The Code of the Republic of Belarus on Judicial System and Status of Judges provides the legal basis for the judiciary and the status of judges in the Republic of Belarus, establishes the unity of the judicial system of the Republic of Belarus, defines its tasks and operating principles.

The judicial system of the Republic of Belarus consists of:

the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus, which is a body of judicial review of the constitutionality of normative legal acts in the state, exercising judicial power through constitutional proceedings;

courts of general jurisdiction, administering justice through civil, criminal and other forms of legal proceedings established by law.
