Born in 1954 in the village of Kosuta, the Vileika district, the Minsk region.

 

In 1981 graduated from Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University.

 

Since 1972 till 1982 − service in the Armed Forces.

 

Since 1982 − a judge, the Chairman of the district court of Buda-Koshelevo, a judge of the Gomel regional court. In 1989-1998 − Chairman of the Gomel regional court.

 

In 1998-1999 − First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

 

Since 1999 till 2004 − First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus.

 

In 2004-2008 − Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus.

 

Since February 2008 − Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus.

 

Author of a number of scientific publications.

 

He has been assigned the highest qualification class of the 1^st rank.

 

On 31 January 2018 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus he has been appointed Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus for a new five-year term with the subsequent approval of his appointment by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.
