Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian and German scientists, specialists in constitutional law and justice, representatives of higher educational establishments, non-governmental organizations took part in this round table.
The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus G.A. Vasilevich, Head of Offices of German Fond for International Law Cooperation in Minsk and Kiev Mr. Stefan Hulshorster and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Germany in the Republic of Belarus Dr. Martin Hekker.
Place and role of the decisions of the Constitutional Court in the national legal system, possibilities of constitutional control in implementation of the common European values, problems of efficiency and independence of constitutional justice, peculiarities of constitutional jurisprudence were the topics discussed by the participants of the round table. Special attention was concentrated on the process of considering of appeals and claims of citizens by the Constitutional Court of Belarus.
The matter of big interest were reports of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus, doctor of legal science, professor G.A.Vasilevich on the topic “Influence of the Decisions of the Constitutional Court on the national legal system”, former judge of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany Dr. Zommer on the topic “Interrelations: Federal Constitutional Court of Germany – European Court of Human Rights” and other.
Participants of the round table had an active discussion on the given issues, shared their experience in the field of constitutional process and control.
