On 26 June 2024 the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Petr Miklashevich took part in the International Conference “Protection of Rights and Constitutional Supervision” held in St. Petersburg by the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation.

The Conference was attended by heads and judges of constitutional review bodies from 25 countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, representatives of the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, well-known legal scholars.

Topical issues of national experience in the implementation of constitutional review and the exercise of the functions of constitutional courts to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens were discussed.

At the plenary session Petr Miklashevich made a presentation on the topic “Initiating Constitutional Review in order to Ensure Constitutional Rights and Freedoms.”

The Chairman of the Constitutional Court also took part in the working meeting of members of the Eurasian Association of Constitutional Review Bodies. Issues of interaction between constitutional courts and the media and practical aspects of determining the criteria for the admissibility of constitutional complaints were at the focus of discussions. At the meeting, directions for the development of the Association were outlined, including holding joint meetings, congresses, and seminars.

On 27 June 2024 Petr Miklashevich took part in the events of the XII St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
