Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus draw attention on the Message content and noted that year 2008 was very important for the Constitutional Court. Firstly, the Court has started work in the new composition. Secondly, the Decree of the Head of the State of 26 June 2008 No. 14 has delegated some additional powers to the Constitutional Court first of all the procedure of the preliminary constitutional control of laws.

During the press conference Petr P. Miklashevich has stressed that the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus activity in 2008 while the realization of powers on the control over the constitutionality of normative legal acts has been directed on safeguarding of the supremacy of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus and its direct action on the State territory and protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens.

In his report Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus noted that according to the results of the consideration significant issues and dealing with the imperfection of a legal regulation the Constitutional Court submitted proposals directed on the elimination of the gaps and collisions in the legislation and securing of the optimal legal regulation and establishment of the uniform law-enforcement practice.

In the second part of the press conference Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus answered the questions of journalists and stopped in more details on the questions concerning applications of citizens, applying of the international norms and principles in the Constitutional Court activity, cooperation with the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, participation in the Cape Town (Republic of South Africa) World Conference on the constitutional justice on the 22-24 of January 2009, visit of the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus to the Supreme Court of India, perspective directions of the constitutional courts of other countries cooperation, etc.
