Upon the invitation of the Chief Justice of India the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus visited the Supreme Court of India from 13th to 15th of November 2008.

On the 14th of November 2008 the meeting of the Chairman of the Republic of Belarus Petr Miklashevich with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India K.G.Balakrishnan took place. The Heads of the highest judicial bodies of both states confirmed that judicial protection of citizens’ constitutional rights in Belarus and India is the most effective and democratic form of protection of rights and liberties. They emphasized common approaches in strengthening such protection.

During the meeting participants exchanged the useful experience in the sphere of the constitutional proceedings in their states, agreed to intensify the cooperation in sending decisions, official editions of the Courts, analytical materials.

Within the framework of the visit the meetings of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus with the judges of the Supreme Court, representatives of the Bar Association, state bodies of justice, law scientists of India were held.
