Deputy Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Natallia Karpovich took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “A Constitution: the Embodiment of the Values of the Rule of Law, Civil Society and the Modern State”, held on 28–29 August 2018 in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan)

The conference was attended by representatives of the constitutional review bodies from 15 countries of Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, prominent legal scholars.

The conference focused on issues of the role of the Constitution in the life of society and the state, its importance for the development of civil society institutions and the protection of human rights. A new scientific and practical commentary on the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented.

Deputy Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Natallia Karpovich made a presentation on the topic “The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus as a Defender of Human Rights and Freedoms”.

On 28 August 2018, under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan K.Mami, a meeting of the Conference of Constitutional Control Organs of the Countries of New Democracy was held.

The representatives of the constitutional review bodies of Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as the Secretary General of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice Schnutz Dürr participated in the meeting. 

The members of the Conference satisfied the petition of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Azerbaijan on joining the CСCOCND.

Actual issues related to the processes of constitutional development in the participating states, modern challenges in ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and strengthening cooperation at the regional and international levels were discussed at the meeting.
