On 21 September 2017 the International Seminar “The Role of the Constitutional Court in Protection of the Fundamental Rights and Freedoms of Individuals”, organised by the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus together with the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, was held in Minsk
The seminar was attended by representatives of state bodies of the Republic of Belarus, the Court of the Eurasian Economic Union, the Republican Bar Association, scientists in the field of constitutional law from Belarusian scientific and higher educational institutions.
Deputy Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Natallia Karpovich, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Belarus Peter Dettmar, Director of the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation Stefan Hülschörster addressed the participants in the forum with welcoming speeches.
Deputy Chairwoman of the Constitutional Court Natallia Karpovich, Judges Tadeush Voronovich and Sergei Chigrinov, Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Federal Land of Brandenburg Jes Möller, Retired Judge of the Federal Constitutional Court of the Federal Republic of Germany Udo Steiner delivered their reports.
The discussion centred on development of the constitutional review, individuals' access to constitutional justice, problems of implementing international human rights standards in national legal systems, ways to improve the effectiveness of constitutional justice in order to protect the human rights and freedoms.
