Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Petr Miklashevich took part in the International Conference “Modern Constitutional Justice: Challenges and Prospects” in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the activity of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation and in the VI St. Petersburg International Legal Forum that took place on 17–19 May 2016 in St. Petersburg (Russian Federation)
The Conference was attended by chairmen and judges of constitutional courts and bodies of equal jurisdiction of Austria, Albania, Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, India, Indonesia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Macedonia, Mongolia, Morocco, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Finland, France, Montenegro, Switzerland, Estonia and other countries, as well as by the judges of the European Court of Human Rights, the President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, legal scholars.
The Conference was focused on the topical issues of the constitutional review, the role of constitutional courts in the protection of the human rights and freedoms, independence of judiciary in the modern world.
At the plenary meeting Petr Miklashevich made a presentation on “The Development of the Constitutional Review in the Modern Period” (in Russian).
