The conference was attended by representatives of the constitutional review bodies of Algeria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Thailand, Croatia, the Czech Republic and other countries, as well as of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
The issues of independence of the judiciary, the role of constitutional courts in its strengthening as well as problems and challenges for the independence of courts in the practice of different countries were discussed during the conference.
The judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Danilyuk made a presentation on “Constitutional and Legal Bases of the Independence of the Judicial Power in the Republic of Belarus” and informed the participants of the forum on the role of the Constitutional Court in strengthening the independence of the judiciary in Belarus.
