In the exercise of obligatory preliminary review the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus considered the constitutionality of laws of the Republic of Belarus

On December 28, 2011 in the exercise of obligatory preliminary review the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus considered the constitutionality of the following laws of the Republic of Belarus adopted by the House of Representatives and approved by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:

“On the Mental Health Care” (a reporting judge – Leonid M. Ryabtsev);

“On Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare of Population” (a reporting judge – Valentina V. Podgrusha);

“On the Prevention of Spread of Diseases that Pose a Hazard to Public Health, of Human Immunodeficiency Virus” (a reporting judge – Anatoly G.Tikovenko);

“On Making Addenda and Alterations to Certain Laws of the Republic of Belarus” (a reporting judge – Leonid M. Ryabtsev);

“On the Assisted Reproductive Technologies” (a reporting judge – Anatoly G.Tikovenko);

“On Making Alterations and Addenda to the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Marriage and Family” (a reporting judge – Tadeush V. Voronovich);

“On Making Alterations and Addenda to the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On the Guarantees of Social Protection of Orphans, Children Left without Parental Care, as well as Those of the Number of Orphans and Children Left without Parental Care” (a reporting judge – Valentina V. Podgrusha).

Based on the results of consideration the said laws were recognised to be conforming to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. At the same time the Constitutional Court stated its legal positions aimed to clarify the constitutional and legal meaning of certain provisions of the reviewed laws.
