On 15 March 2011 in the Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) took place the on-line conference with participation of the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus Petr P. Miklashevich on the topic “The Constitutional Court protecting the rights of citizens” dedicated to the Constitution Day.

During the on-line conference the questions that concern the role of the Constitution in the modern society, the implementation of its rules and principles in legislation, the competence of the Constitutional Court, the prospects for the development of constitutional proceedings in Belarus, the various problems in law-enforcement etc. were asked.

Petr P. Miklashevich gave an estimate of the Constitutional Court activities in the last year, assigned its tasks for the current one, revealed the meaning of the Constitution as the foundation to build a democratic, social state based on the rule of law, explained the legal aspects concerning the introduction of the ombudsman institution in our country, the special features of the implementation of individual access to constitutional justice and of legal assistance in Belarus, of alternative military service etc.
