In the exercise of obligatory preliminary review the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus considered the constitutionality of laws

On November 10, 2010 in the exercise of obligatory preliminary review the Constitutional Court considered the constitutionality of the following laws, adopted by the House of Representatives and approved by the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus:

“On Making Alterations and Addenda to the Law of the Republic of Belarus “On State Allowances for Families with Children” (a reporting judge – Valentina V. Podgrusha);

“On Making Alterations to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Belarus on Housing” (a reporting judge – Valentina V. Podgrusha);

“On the Naming of Geographic Areas” (a reporting judge – Sergei P. Chigrinov);

“On Ratification of the Statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency” (a reporting judge – Alexander V. Maryskin);

“On the Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonisation of Customs Procedures” (a reporting judge – Tadeush V. Voronovich);

“On the Accession of the Republic of Belarus to the Agreement on Co-operation among the Member-States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the Operation of Interstate Transmission Lines of National Electric Power Systems” (a reporting judge – Sergei p. Chigrinov);

“On Ratification of the Protocol on the Termination of the Agreement on the Principles of Customs Policy of March 13, 1992” (a reporting judge – Liliya G. Kozyreva);

Based on the results of consideration all the laws were recognised to be conforming to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. At the same time the Constitutional Court stated its legal positions aimed to clarify the constitutional and legal meaning of certain provisions of laws.
