On October 16, 2010 at its 84th Plenary Session the European Commission for Democracy through Law (the Venice Commission) has approved the appointment of a new associate member of the Commission on behalf of the Republic of Belarus – Alexander V. Maryskin, Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus.
Alexander V. Maryskin
Born in 1954 in the city of Baranovichi, the Brest region.
In 1979 graduated from Belarusian State University, Law Faculty.
In 1982 completed his post-graduate studies at the Chair of Theory and History of State and Law, Belarusian State University, Law Faculty. In 1985 defended a Candidate thesis. Associate Professor.
From 1982 till 1991 – a lecturer, chief lecturer, associate professor at the Law Faculty of Grodno State University; Head of the Chair of Belarusian Institute of Jurisprudence.
From 1991 till 1997 – a chief reader, Head of the Department of the Secretariat of the Supreme Council, Head of the State Law Department, later on – the Main Board of legal support of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
Since January 1997 – Judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus.
Author of over 60 scientific works.
Participated in elaboration of many draft laws and drafts of other normative legal acts.
High qualified class of a judge. Merited Lawyer of the Republic of Belarus.
