In the exercise of obligatory preliminary constitutional control the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus considered the constitutionality of laws

On 17-28 December 2009 the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus exercised the obligatory preliminary constitutional control of 45 laws adopted by the House of Representatives and approved by the Council of the Republic on the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, including:

«On Local Government and Self-governance»

«On Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Belarus»

«On Status of Servicemen»

«On Electronic Document and Digital Signature»

«On Making Alterations and Addenda to the Laws of the Republic of Belarus «On Veterans» and «On Status of Heroes of the Soviet Union, Heroes of Socialist Labour, Full Holders of the Order of the Glory, Labour Glory»

«On Making Alterations and Addenda to Some Laws of the Republic of Belarus Regarding Exercise of the Administrative Procedures»

«On Making Alterations and Addenda to Some Codes of the Republic of Belarus Regarding Criminal and Administrative Liability»

a package of laws regarding ratification of international treaties that form the legal basis of the customs union within the Eurasian Economic Community.

Based on the results of consideration all the laws were recognised to be conforming to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. At the same time the Constitutional Court stated its legal positions aimed to refine the constitutional legal meaning of certain provisions of laws and to fill gaps in legislation.
